Magic Sustainability Policy: our approach to grow
Some commitments exist long before they are written down.
That is what happened in our case: our Sustainability Policy was not created to announce a new direction, but to give a name to one we have been following for years.
It is not a formal exercise. It comes from the intention to describe clearly a direction that has long been part of our identity: growing while continuing to bring together innovation, responsibility, quality and a long-term perspective.
Our policy therefore has a precise role: it sets out what sustainability actually means to us.
A practical criterion that guides our choices today and over time.
Environment: innovating with greater awareness
Environmental aspects are part of our research and development work.
For years, we have been working to improve processes, materials and production approaches, considering the use of resources, energy consumption and the tools available to assess environmental aspects. This work has also involved the development of products such as Spongel, Airgel g-grade, PulpForm, G-pad and Paperpad.
This translates into clear operational choices: monitoring consumption, energy-efficiency measures, management and reuse of production scrap, and the use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as a tool.
Some of these areas are documented through specific certifications and schemes – ISO 14001, PEFC and OK Compost Industrial – each with its own scope of application.
People: the value of a company also comes from those who experience it every day
Sustainability also concerns the way a company builds its internal culture.
For us, this means giving concrete attention to people: first and foremost, to health and safety, but also to the quality of the working environment and professional development. This commitment is reflected in accident prevention, training and a consistent management system, strengthened by ISO 45001 certification.
There is another important aspect: the intention to help people grow together with the company.
This has led to apprenticeship programmes, collaborations with universities and training institutions, and learning programmes designed to strengthen skills and professional development.
The policy also refers to family welfare initiatives and to our commitment to promoting inclusion and valuing diversity, including through greater female representation in management.
Product quality and safety: sustainability must be verifiable
For us, sustainability only makes sense when it goes hand in hand with quality and safety.
For this reason, the Sustainability Policy places clear emphasis on product quality and safety, referring to the controls and tests needed to verify compliance and ensure safe and appropriate use.
At the same time, it identifies the maintenance ISO 9001 and BRC IoP certificationsamong the improvement commitments set out for the future.
Customers, partners and stakeholders expect sustainability to be credible and supported by reliability and sound industrial practice. Innovation means bringing responsibility together with the quality of the work we do.
Supply chain and governance: sustainability requires shared responsibility
A company never operates in isolation, which is why a sustainability policy cannot overlook the supply chain.
On the supply side, Magic has introduced an ESG Questionnaire for suppliers to assess practices and risks and to support more informed choices when selecting business partners: sustainability becomes stronger when it is shared.
The policy also refers to concrete governance tools such as the Code of Ethics, the Organisational, Management and Control 231 Model and the Legality Rating, together with a more structured approach to defining ESG roles and responsibilities.
These elements reflect a company that does not treat sustainability as a reputational framework, but as a principle of responsibility applied to its governance as well.
What we have done. What we want to do
The most honest part of a sustainability policy is not what it declares, but what it acknowledges: how much remains to be done.
We have described the meaning of our commitment and what truly matters to us: turning principles into actions, and actions into a commitment that can be measured over time.
Some certifications and processes are already well established. And we have specific commitments for the future, set out clearly in our Sustainability Policy, which you can read on the ESG page of our website.
Some words only gain value when they are supported by facts, and for us sustainability is one of them.
