Airgel is a high-absorbency airlaid material incorporating Spongel into its structure. Airgel g-grade is the version certified OK Compost Industrial in the configurations covered by the currently valid certificate.

How this innovative airlaid was born
Extensive research and development, combined with significant existing know-how, led to a first turning point in 2015: the patenting of Spongel, a superabsorbent powder certified OK Compost Industrial by TÜV Austria.
A production plant is then planned and implemented for the development of advanced absorbent materials.
It was a fundamental step in the evolving process that led us to innovate the airlaid industry with Airgel g-grade and with G-pad to contribute to a revolutionary change in the industry of absorbent pads for food packaging applications.
Airgel g-grade is an absorbent material based on cellulose fibres, developed for applications requiring high absorption performance.
Absorption and retention tests are conducted on the specific product configurations.

Main applications
Food packaging pads
Since the beginning of 2021, Magic has been transitioning almost its entire range of absorbent pads for food packaging to new product configurations. In April 2022, G-pad was launched: an absorbent pad certified OK Compost Industrial, which can be disposed of with organic waste through industrial composting where permitted by municipal regulations and the local waste management provider.
Medical and hygienic solutions
Airgel can be used in structures intended for hygiene and medical applications requiring absorption and retention under load. The basis weight and core configuration can be adapted to the technical requirements of the specific application. Performance and suitability for use must be verified on the finished product configuration and against the applicable regulatory requirements.
