[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]In the latest issue of Nonwovens Industry, a leading publication reference magazine for the nonwoven sector, features an article on the collaboration between Magic and Campen Machinery A/S, the Danish company specialising in the design and installation of industrial airlaid production lines.

In the interview, Mauro Giani looks back at the main stages of the collaboration, from the reasons behind the choice of supplier to the development of Airgel, the airlaid material developed by Magic with a structure incorporating Spongel.

The project began with the need to produce a new type of high-absorbency airlaid containing Spongel, Magic’s patented superabsorbent powder certified for industrial composting.

After developing Spongel, we focused our efforts on incorporating the powder into airlaid and realised that we needed to be able to control the entire production process.

Magic chose Campen for its experience in airlaid production technology and for the opportunity to build a technical collaboration throughout all stages of the project.

Mauro Giani adds:

We wanted a supplier with whom we could establish a strong technical partnership, and we achieved that with the Campen team.

The line was delivered at the end of 2019, but commissioning and testing were slowed by the outbreak of the pandemic. Travel restrictions meant that final testing could only be completed in June 2021.

Giani concludes:

Unfortunately, the health emergency slowed down the start-up process, but Campen’s technicians were always available and open to finding effective solutions to manage the difficulties and limitations caused by the pandemic. Campen’s high-tech line enabled Magic to move from being a converter to becoming a producer, and allowed us to develop Airgel, a highly innovative and exclusive product containing Spongel.
