The difference starts with the process itself: fibre is shaped through heat and pressure, without the water-forming and <\/span>subsequent<\/span> drying stages used in wet-<\/span>molding<\/span>. This results in a different production setup, with <\/span>very short<\/span> forming cycles.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”12px”][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

The dry-molding process<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Dry-molding, or dry thermoforming, is an industrial process used to shape fibrous materials \u2013 <\/span>such as cellulose-based airlaid<\/span><\/strong> – nto three-dimensional forms through the combined action of heat and pressure, without the water-forming stage typical of wet-<\/span>molding<\/span> processes.<\/span>
\nBy comparison, wet-<\/span>molding<\/span> disperses fibres in water before forming and <\/span>subsequent<\/span> drying. Dry-<\/span><\/strong><\/span>molding<\/span><\/strong> processes the fibrous material in a dry state and brings it to the required geometry using heat and pressure.<\/span> <\/strong>In the industrial technologies currently available, this can enable production cycles of just a few seconds, depending on the product and line configuration.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”12px”][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

Dry-molding vs wet-molding: two processes compared<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

A new generation of materials for dry-molding<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]To make this process possible, the material itself must be compatible with dry thermoforming and able to meet both production and application requirements.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is the context in which PulpForm<\/strong><\/span> was developed: the thermoformable cellulose-based airlaid created by Magic. PulpForm is a semi-finished material certified OK Compost Industrial for industrial composting, developed specifically for processing through dry-<\/span>molding<\/span>. It is thermoformed and, depending on the application, may undergo further converting, which <\/span>determines<\/span> the characteristics of the finished article.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Used to produce trays, lids, inserts and other rigid packaging components, it combines the characteristics of a fibrous structure with the shaping possibilities offered by the dry process, allowing geometry, <\/span>surface<\/span> and finish to be tailored to the application.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”12px”][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

Dry-molding technology: a different process for fibre-based packaging<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
