{"id":13016,"date":"2024-07-03T14:23:45","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T12:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magic-spa.com\/?p=13016"},"modified":"2026-09-02T15:27:46","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T13:27:46","slug":"magics-concrete-path-towards-esg-criteria-integration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/magic-spa.com\/en\/magics-concrete-path-towards-esg-criteria-integration\/","title":{"rendered":"Magic\u2019s journey towards integrating ESG criteria"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">At a time of profound change, Magic sees the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) topics as a journey that the company intends to translate progressively into actions that, wherever possible, can be measured.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A significant step forward in this direction came on 7 November 2023, when the Board of Directors appointed <\/span><span style=\"color: #92b843;\">Mara Galli, CEO and CFO,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> as <\/span><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><strong>the company\u2019s ESG representative.<\/strong><\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">The decision marks a strategic turning point, aimed at strengthening risk management, assessing opportunities related to ESG topics and contributing to the protection and creation of business value over time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We had the opportunity to speak with Mara Galli, a member of the board who is guiding the company through an innovation process that aims to progressively integrate environmental considerations, social equity and transparent governance into its actions.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;26px&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #92b843;\">What actions has Magic taken to integrate ESG criteria?<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Magic has taken significant, structured steps towards integrating ESG criteria: a commitment expressed not only in words, but through concrete actions and tools that make it possible, where applicable, to measure and monitor progress over time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">One clear example is the achievement of ISO 14001 certification. The process involved the entire company for more than ten months.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">We have also obtained a two-star Legal Rating, an important element in our relationships with commercial and financial partners and in the process of strengthening our governance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These important objectives have been accompanied by the introduction of new insurance coverage designed to address emerging risks proactively and support our vision. This includes environmental liability coverage, helping us respond with greater security to potential incidents that may have an impact on the environment; cyber risk coverage, to protect us against growing cyber threats; and extended accident coverage for employees, providing greater security for them and their families.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><b>What are the next steps?<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Magic has begun a collaboration with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stiima.cnr.it\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">CNR-STIIMA<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><strong>,<\/strong><\/span> the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The initiative involves preliminary LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) analyses aimed at investigating and collecting data on the environmental aspects associated with the raw materials and processes being considered.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These include <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/magic-spa.com\/en\/spongel\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Spongel<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/magic-spa.com\/en\/airgel\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Airgel g-grade<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><strong>,<\/strong><\/span> both certified OK Compost Industrial for industrial composting.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The analyses are still under way, but we believe they can provide useful insights. The studies will support the development of further strategies, help identify potential areas for process optimisation and broaden collaboration with partners who share an interest in these topics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At the same time, we have started an energy audit in collaboration with <\/span><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><strong>M&amp;G Engineering Consulting srl<\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><strong>,<\/strong> <\/span>a company specialising in energy and plant engineering.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This has allowed us to deepen our understanding of energy consumption, identifying possible areas for improved efficiency and the related opportunities for action.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As part of this process, we will assess the installation of a major new photovoltaic system among the measures being considered for our production sites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Magic is therefore continuing its efforts to improve energy efficiency and to assess measures that may contribute, on the basis of effectively measured results, to reducing the impacts associated with energy consumption.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><b>What obstacles does Magic face, and how is it addressing them?<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The journey towards effective integration of ESG principles involves considerable challenges, particularly in terms of cultural change and technological innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Magic has adopted a pragmatic approach, supported by specialised companies such as <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #92b843;\">ERM<\/span><\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong><span style=\"color: #92b843;\">,<\/span><\/strong> setting realistic and measurable objectives and promoting a corporate culture that encourages transparency and social responsibility.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #92b843;\"><b>What effect will ESG integration have on Magic\u2019s reputation in the market?<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Commitment to ESG principles is fundamental not only from the perspective of business ethics, but we also believe it can play an increasingly important role in market competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>We have therefore developed an ambitious three-year plan that includes the adoption of the 231 Organisational Model, strengthening our commitment to human resources and drawing, where relevant, on the principles of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that the actions undertaken can contribute over time to strengthening our market position and our relationships of trust with customers, partners and investors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;26px&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Mara Galli\u2019s reflections reveal a corporate commitment built around concrete actions and results, alongside projects and innovations that are still evolving, and a vision focused on the future.<\/p>\n<p>Magic\u2019s efforts form part of a journey aimed at strengthening corporate responsibility and contributing, through its activities, to the creation of value for the wider community as well.<\/p>\n<p>Magic intends to continue playing an active role in environmental and social matters, contributing to discussion and to the development of solutions that progressively take greater account of these aspects.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A roadmap of concrete actions to integrate ESG criteria into business management.
